Top Passion @ Tropicana City Mall

Wednesday, 5th December 2012.

My friend Lina and I discovered Top Passion via Groupon, the offer was RM59 each for Cut+Wash+Hair Spa+Scalp Treatment. We bought the 2-person promotion in order to get RM59 each, or else it's slightly more expensive. We were given two outlets to choose from, Tropicana City Mall and One Utama, we chose Tropicana.

Before actually trying this place out, I somehow had a good feeling about this salon, about how this might be my future salon. I've been searching for a salon that's affordable and good and looks like i've finally found it. :)

Sometimes we see discount vouchers from those sites like Groupon, there are some that are really cheap but location wise is in KL City, a place I dislike going cause of the jam. I was feeling tired of thinking where to get a hair cut whenever I need one. Thanks to Groupon, I've found my hair salon. :)

Lina with her before hair spa picture. While mine at the bottom looking flat and out of shape. :/

After our hair cut, we were brought to the back to wash our hair. They washed our hair twice because of the scalp treatment. First with normal shampoo, then with their herbal shampoo for scalp detox. I love the herbal shampoo as it smells and feels very ice minty. <3 If you're wondering how was the hair wash, I would rate 2.5/5 because personally for me it was a little rough. When I wash my hair I'm often very gentle, and especially when your hair is long, damaged and tangled it can be very painful when not gentle. But the hair stylist told me I have to inform them when it hurts so they will be more gentle, i'll do that at my next scalp treatment in January then. :)

In this picture, the lady is applying the treatment for the scalp. Love this too because the sensation was icy minty cold. After application they would rub the treatment and massage your scalp for better absorption.

Hair spa, they apply the hair mask onto my hair. Unlike conditioner, they applied thoroughly by separating my hair into small sections and made sure all of my hair have been thoroughly applied with the hair mask.

After the application of scalp treatment and hair mask they put this band thing at the front of my head. Honestly I don't know what this is for, if you do please let me know. :)

My head is in the steam! For the first few minutes I could not feel the heat because of the scalp treatment. The minty icy cooling feel was really strong until I could not feel the heat from the steam until much later on.

After rinsing my hair, it was time to dry and style it. Honestly I think they should be more gentle when drying the hair, using the round comb and kept combing the same area for countless times have hurt my scalp a little. :/ But not too big of an issue, will just inform them the next time. Another thing I don't really like is how they comb my hair flat instead of creating some waves at the top from the beginning.

Lina was done earlier than me because the hair stylist cut both of our hairs, she cut hers first then mine. Look at Lina's hair now, compare this picture with the picture above, can see her hair is so much smoother and less frizzy as compared to before.

When we left the salon, we went to the bathroom and stared cam whoring which I haven't really done in a while. :p. Please tolerate the last few pictures here. :)

My hair has been so smooth throughout the night and the following day and that felt wonderful. I've not felt my hair this way for a very long time since I started dying them regularly. We were given 20% off because of the Groupon voucher so Lina and I bought the scalp treatment! RM96 after 20%, normal price is RM120 which I feel is quite reasonable for scalp treatment. I love scalp treatments. :)

Here's the pricing, OCS means organic or herbal. For normal scalp treatment they use Bonacure.

That's about it, to conclude I would say this salon by far is pretty decent. I like the way my hair stylist cut my hair and will most probably go back to them for a hair cut, and as for scalp treatment, if there's any where else that's cheaper then i might go for the cheaper one. Even so I will come back here again for my hair cut and probably by the same stylist, Sophia Chan.

Posh! Launch @ SS2

Last Sunday, December 2nd, 2012 I attended the launch of Posh! at SS2. They have a branch in TTDI as well, so I'm guessing this is their second outlet. All thanks to Lina who informed me about this like way earlier, and because we RSVP early we got some goodie bags! :)

Posh! is a Beauty House I would say that provides services such as facial, mani pedi, waxing, make-up/grooming, eyelash extension, and a few more of others. I know that there are many stores like this in Malaysia, but there are many women who are still searching for their perfect beauty sanctuary,
such as I. :)

The launch was a success as the store was filled with people and potential customers. Posh! provided a free manicure service to everyone who attended the launch, as well as many lucky draws to ensure that most of the people win something home, such a sweet gesture.

Guess who I bumped into? Senri! If you read my Kissed by Kinerase blog post you'll remember her, that's when we first met. :)

Getting my nails done. :)
Thanks Lina for helping me take this picture. :) The person who did my nails was really nice and friendly.

The host of the event was Belinda Chee, looking gorgeous even after her baby. :)

Wondering what brands of nail polish they use? O.P.I baby! But my friend Lina said she saw some China Glaze too. Why not head over to Posh! and check them out yourself?

A launch or an event will not be successful when there's no food, but to me this launch was not only a success but made me a very happy girl because there was wine! The mini wine section here was for wine tasting and promoting their African wine for a very good price. A bottle is about RM55, and these wines can only be found in hotels, high class restaurants, and will be sold for triple the price.

I personally prefer white over red, I tried the Cabernet Sauvignon Blanc and their Chardonnay. Okay I'm not sure if the Chardonnay looking bottle is Chardonnay cause I didn't see the bottle properly, but when the bottle is shaped like that is usually Chardonnay. The Cabernet Sauvignon Blanc is very smooth and easy too drink, not too sour and not bitter. The Chardonnay was sweet like a juice, but not too sweet too, somewhat reminds me a bit of Champagne except without the gas. I wanted the Chardonnay, but it was RM65. :( I think I can finally accept the fact that I have expensive taste. :/

The lucky draw was one of the main activity of the launch other than the free manicure, they have given out so many prizes even i'm amazed by the number of things they actually have to give away.

Lina won an expensive water bottle! :)

The gift for the final lucky draw was this box. Senri won it!When she opened the box, a balloon popped out, there are also some other stuff in there. This is actually like a Balloon Bouquet where you can surprise someone with. May check it out at www.partymoomoo.com.

Zen Beaute @ Kuchai Maju

So last Saturday my friend Carmen Lim and I went for a 90 minutes of Full Detox Treatment + Lymphatic Drainage Massage + Ginger Tummy Massage + Air Spa + Body Analysis for only RM39 (ilovediscounts.my). Seeing what i just typed here, it looks like a really good deal right? Only RM39 for all of the above. My friend and I were really excited because we wanted to detox, i mean the air that we breathe everyday, facing our computers most of the time, the detox would really help.

So i will explain to you the procedure of how it works(ed), and my experience.

First, they interviewed me of my daily lifestyle such as what time do I eat my breakfast, what time do I sleep, how often do i face the computer, you get the flow. I thought it was really good that they actually ask all this stuff, it is like getting to know your body before proceeding with the treatment. After that I had to stand on this weighing machine look-a-like, to measure body fat%, water %, muscle mass %, etc.

Second, I had to strip till my underclothes and lie on this Air Bed which will squeeze your body and then release. This was to help with the body's blood flow. According to the person assisting me, she said it's for people who does not exercise regularly. Honestly in my opinion, i thought the air bed was useless. Because:
- when you wear the stuff on your legs, arms, and stomach area, it does not fit 100% nicely on your body.
- my hands/palms/fingers felt cold and sensitive as the air bed was holding tightly on my wrist to control the blood flow. Whenever the first cycle is done, the bed would release all the air, and then start again; but it did not give enough time for some blood to flow back to my palms/fingers.
- my feet felt so uncomfortable, like I said it was not perfectly fit. One side was more covered than the other, i kept changing positions of my feet.
After about 4 to 5 cycles i only sweated very little.

Third, was the Lymphatic Drainage which was pretty painful. When they massage, they are like pushing to one direction most of the time, to get rid of toxins and lymphs I guess.

Fourth, Ginger Tummy Massage, it was the MOST PAINFUL massage for me because I have gastritis and weak stomach due to sleeping late at night and not waking up on time for breakfast, etc. It was terribly painful! So people rest early, wake up at the right time for breakfast. :P

The massage ended with a short shoulder massage.

Over all the experience was a good experience except for the Air Bed. I would rate my overall experience 3/5.

Short tips: Do not listen to their weight loss advise. Why? This is what they told me and my friend.

1. The lady told me my biceps muscle is quite big, and i told her cause i've been doing my biceps. Then she told me to not do that, by doing so i won't lose weight. Then i said to her, if i can't do any arm workout, how do i lose my arm fats? I expected her to say cardio, but this is what she said(translated): "for your triceps, put your elbow up and behind your head and just give a pull and stretch."
I was like... you got to be kidding me... well i didn't say it, just thought it, haha.

2. The manager told my friend that her legs has alot of muscles. So my friend told her cause she jogs, then the manager asked, why do you jog? My friend said cause she wanted to lose weight. The manager then told her, no jogging will make your legs bigger cause of the muscles. My friend then asked, if it's so, how do i lose weight? ................................................................................................... she said take diet pills.

So yeah ladies and even gentlemen, go for the detox, go for the massage, but never listen to their weight lost tips. Here's their pricing.

Boutique Vogue Spa.Nail.Lounge @DU

So last year my friend and I bought a voucher from Groupon for Manicure+Pedicure+Callus Removal for RM39.00. Last Friday, we made appointment and when we first got there, we didn't know it was a Boutique+Nail Spa, so when we saw a boutique, we continue walking upstairs until there was nowhere to go. Went back down and looked into the boutique, that's when I saw some nail art samples.

Their clothes are actually not bad in quality, and price is pretty average like any other boutiques. Some of the stuff are quite nice, might actually go back there to shop for dresses. :)

When we got there they were still doing the mani pedi for other customers, so while waiting we just looked at the clothes, and I took some pictures.

Our Mani+Pedi Session

My Pedicure Designs

My Review
Okay, my friend and I thought that the choices for the nail art for our pedicure were kind of limited. I actually expected them to show us the types of nail arts through pictures and we choose from there. But we had to choose from this metal thing where the designs are engraved on it. For our big toes, we only can put one design. If you look at my toes, there are still so much space and I could have added more designs on it, but i'm not allowed to.

There were also limited staffs, only two of them handling this hence our 60 mins mani pedi became 1.5 to 2 hours. There is one Chinese lady, whom I assume is the person in charge, and another Malay lady. The Chinese lady was good, whereas the Malay lady seemed a little lack of experience? When she paste the nail art on my friend's toe, she couldn't do it properly saying that colour wouldn't come off the metal nail art, and had to remove the mistake with nail polish remover.

When she was painting my toes, the nail polish was kind of dry-ish thick, therefore the outcome wasn't as smooth. The Malay lady did not do anything about it until the person in charge told her it's too thick, need to add the nail polish remover to liquidize it.

Maybe I was misled by the Groupon Promotion, but in the Groupon page they showed really pretty nail arts, not like this at all. In fact they showed the nail arts like this ones.  Maybe Groupon  was not really informed about this too, knowing them such mistakes as these are something Groupon would want to prevent.

Overall my experience with Vogue Spa is pretty okay, but I'm not happy with the limited choices and for not knowing the basic knowledge for nail polish. Even I would've known if the nail polish is too thick or dried up a little, and do something about it.

Service: 2.5/5
Quality: 2/5
Revisit: Not for mani pedi

*My friend and I are actually glad that we did not pay full price for this.
