Hairstyles for Every Hair Type

Hairstyles for Straight Hair

Braided hairstyle
For a Night Out: Boost a Basic Braid
Make this style sultry for evening by creating a messy side part and weaving your hair into a braid tucked behind one ear. Start braiding at the top of your head, working down along your hairline. Tuck bobby pins along the edges to secure it. Finish with a mist of hair spray, like Dove Style+Care Strength&Shine Flexible Hold Hairspray.

Ponytail hairstyle
For a Twist on the Ponytail: Loop It Up
To get this pulled-together look, part your hair down the middle and pull your strands into a sleek, low ponytail at the nape of your neck. Form a tight loop, wrapping the end of the ponytail over the top of the base and then underneath it to conceal the ponytail elastic, and pin it in place. Lightly spritz your locks all over with a shine-enhancing mist for a healthy sheen.

Bouncy blowout
Let Your Hair Down: Get a Bouncy Blowout
Key to this swingy blow-dry are wavy ends. With your head upside down, apply a root-boosting spray, beneath the top layers of your hair and blow-dry with a paddle brush. To boost body, tease hair in two-inch sections at the roots and wrap each around a two-inch Velcro roller. Let your hair cool completely, then remove the rollers and shake out your strands.

Hairstyles for Wavy Hair

Teased ponytail
For a Twist on the Ponytail: Reach New Heights
Power up your pony by dividing the hair at your crown into three sections. Lightly brush them from front to back, teasing each part for maximum lift. Leaving the teased portion free, pull the rest of your strands into a high ponytail. Rake the teased hair into a small ponytail right above the other one and then wrap an elastic around both ponies. Spray ends with a lightweight texturizer and scrunch with your fingers.

Smooth curly hair
Let Your Hair Down: Score Smooth Curls
Apply a serum through the ends of damp hair. Next, run a dollop of mousse through the lengths. Flip your head upside down and blow-dry, tousling as you go. For sleek waves: Moving away from your face, twist one-inch pieces around a one-and-a-quarter-inch curling iron held vertically.

Undone updo hairstyle
For a Night Out: Get an Undone Updo
For a pinned-back look that's boho, not bridal party, create a side part and pull your hair into a side pony, letting loose strands frame your face. Wind the ponytail into a bun and fasten it with pins. Spritz the portion of loose hair with wave spray drape it over the bun and secure it with pins. Let a couple of tendrils fall around your face.

Hairstyles for Curly Hair

Loose ringlets
Let Your Hair Down: Loosen Up Your Ringlets
Score this supereasy do by applying a liberal amount of a silicone-based product through your strands to help the brush glide through. Moving in layers, starting at the nape of the neck and working upward, use a ball-tipped cushion brush to gently loosen your curls. The ball tips on the brush are easy on your hair. Fluff the curls with your fingers

Pony-Bun hybrid hairstyle
For a Twist on the Ponytail: Try a Pony-Bun Hybrid
If your ponytail tends to look poufy, incorporate the strand-taming qualities of a bun. Pull the bottom section of your hair at the back of your head into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck. Next, take both of the sections on the sides and cross them at the top of the base of the ponytail and then pin underneath to secure. Leave the remaining curls free and loose for a laid-back effect.

Twist hairstyle
For a Night Out: Do the Twist
This sophisticated style appears intricate but is actually a cinch. Make a side part and divide the hair at the top of your head into two sections. Beginning at the hairline, twirl each half up and toward the back of your head until you reach the middle, pinning from above. Join together the loose twists in the back and fasten the ends with pins under the coil. Play with positioning it lower or higher, according to your preference.

The common mistakes we make when using keyboard and mouse.

Many people actually use their computer the wrong way which will strain the wrist nerves in long run and cause Carpal Tunnel. I myself have experienced wrist strain from the wrong usage of keyboard and touch pad mouse which requires me to do some stretching on my wrist for it to feel better.

If you are experiencing wrist discomfort, here's a video that will help you relieve pain.

Laurier Super Slimguard Review

I received samples of their new sanitary pad, "Super Slimguard" from Kao Laurier. Please note that this is for ladies only. Guys, there might be some information that you don't want to know or regret reading. :)

So i've tried them now and i'm about to share with you my experience with Laurier's new sanitary pad. Do know that i will not be bias and will be completely honest in this review.

Super Slimguard Day
The Super Slimguard Day is 22.5cm. It claims to have maximum absorbency in only 1mm thick. It's also claimed to be quick in drying and locking.

"Polymers inside the 1mm Ultra Absorbent Sheet lock 200px of fluid instantly. It's so absorbent yet its barely there, staying hidden under anything you wear!"
"Suction-like power absorbs fluid quickly into the new Quick Lock System, get about your daily activities with no more worries about leakages, no matter how heavy the flow."
"Feel drier like never before with 80%* of fluid reduced on innovative Quick Dry Mesh Surface and seals it within the centre core, reducing stuffy uncomfortable feeling."

My Review
First things first, I did not read the information behind the packet when I used it. Typing this information out is basically my first time reading it. What I experienced or felt was exactly what it claims! I'm kind of surprised actually, I mean how often are things exactly what it claims to be right?

In my experience when I first used it, I wore my jeggings because I was wearing a long top, so I thought my long top would cover my butt so it'll be okay. But seriously... Wow... I looked in the mirror, it is like as if I'm not wearing any pad at all! I touched my butt just to see if I could feel it, it is so damn thin I could barely feel  it. I would be lying if I said it felt like nothing was there, but it is really thin that you can barely feel it, as compared to my other pad of course.

*This might be disgusting*
My previous pad used to feel damped, after all it's fluid. But to my surprise when I used this Laurier pad it felt really dry! I used to get a bit of rashes with my previous pad, but with this pad I didn't get any at all. So i assume the rash is caused by the pad. This one absorbs quick for sure.

Laurier Super Slimguard Night

Very much similar to Day except that it's 30cm. The first and second night I usually have heavier flow as compared to the next few days, so whenever I sleep and i'm always careful with my position because I worry it might leak. But even so whenever I wake up, there's bound to be a stain. But when I used Super Slimguard, I was really really surprised that I didnt get any leakage! On the second night, I slept anyway I like, when I woke up, no leakage as well.

I've got to admit that Laurier has done a good job with this pad. Before this I didn't like using Laurier because the design was small which i didn't like as I preferred longer or bigger pads for a more secure feeling. But now I'm quite surprised with Laurier's new pad and I'm definitely switching to this one.

I gave some samples to my friend to try as well, she had the same thoughts as I did. She said usually when the pad is almost full she would feel the weight of the pad. But with Slimguard she did not feel that way. She wore the pad from 12pm to 4pm with heavy flow, it was still alright given that it's only 1mm thick! She loves it and she's thinking of switching as well.

So to conclude...
*super thin until you can wear any pants you want
*quick absorbent where you don't have to worry about leakage
*it feels dry so you don't have to worry about getting rashes
*given that it's only 1mm thick, it is able to last up to 4 hours on heavy flow.

Rate: 4/5

*I'll be having a giveaway for the Laurier Super Slimguard! Stay tuned. :)

Common Hair Mistakes Every Women Do!

Personally I do not agree with no.1 - Shampooing of Hair Daily, because for me when I skip 1 day of washing, the next day when I wash my hair it drops more. People with oily scalp is recommended to wash hair daily, if not the oil and dirt from the air (especially if you are physically active, sports, sweat easily) will clog your scalp causing  more hair fall. Does this make sense to you?

As for the rest, I've no experience to say anything. :)

Make Up Tutorial by Barbie Doll.

(Valeria Lukyanova is a living Barbie doll. She has big glassy eyes, a tiny waist, straight platinum blonde hair and large breasts. She doesn’t have the exact measurements of the famous girl from Mattel, but in the real world, she comes as close as you can get. Lukyanova claims to be the “the most famous Russian woman on the Russian-language Internet.” Her Youtube page, Amatue, has millions of views and her Facebook page has a few thousand likes. The International Business Times reports that the 21-year-old model has had plastic surgery to achieve her real-life Barbie doll look. She also spends a lot of time in the makeup chair to achieve the flawless skin and glassy, wide-eyed look of a doll. Lukyanova’s strange appearance has some people claim that she’s an elaborate photo-shop hoax. Her Facebook page, however, is full of photos of the model without her makeup so it seems that the model is indeed real. But that doesn’t mean people are a fan of her looks. According to a Huffing Post article from 2011, if Barbie were an actual woman she’d have unrealistic proportions and would most likely be anorexic.Galia Slayen wrote: “If Barbie were an actual women, she would be 5’9″ tall, have a 39″ bust, an 18″ waist, 33″ hips and a size 3 shoe. Barbie would have a BMI of 16.24 and fit the weight criteria for anorexia…. If Barbie was a real woman, she’d have to walk on all fours due to her proportions.”)

Watch Barbie put make up. :)

CLINIQUE Moisture Surge (All Skin Types)

I got a sample from CLINIQUE for a few of their products, and they are all suitable for All Skin Types. This is the CLINIQUE Moisture Surge, extended thirst relief for All Skin Types.

First time
The first time I used this, I thought it was AMAZING. I have oily to combination skin, so I would prefer moisturizers that will not make my skin sticky or oily. Amazingly this product did not, and on the plus point my skin felt really smooth, it basically felt like magic.

After few days
However, after using for a few days, I noticed a bit of dryness on the cheeks near my nose which I thought it was strange. I stopped using this and used my old moisturizer again. Recently my moisturizer finished, so I thought of giving this product another try, but for my skin, it didn't feel like it was moisturizing enough.

Based on my experience, I don't think this is suitable, or maybe strong enough for people with dry skin.

The texture and after feel of this product is again I say, AMAZING. The only disadvantage is that it is probably not moisturizing enough for me, which I thought it's strange since I have oily to combination skin.

Rate: 3/5

I believe this product costs above average, though I like CLINIQUE products, unfortunately this product was not suitable for my skin. Therefore I don't think it'll be worth the cost as I recently found a different moisturizer that is cheaper, and feels like magic as well.

Weight loss with Lemon Water, a Myth?

Drinking lemon water for losing weight isn't very popular, in fact some people believe that lemon water consumption will cause Gastritis because it is acidic. But did you know that although water and lemons by nature are acidic, but when you combine and consume them they are actually very alkalizing to our body? Plus, the more alkaline our body are, the healthier we feel and look! So lemon water helps in weight loss, is it a myth or fact?

It is a FACT. How?

Vitamin C
As we all know, lemons are rich in vitamin C and is also called asorbic acid. Our liver is a key organ in weight control, therefore lemon water thins acid and clears bile from the liver. Vitamin C triggers the glutathione production, which is an antioxidant that is needed for liver detoxification. Hence, removing bile and liver cleansing helps metabolize fat more efficiently

Decreases appetite and hunger
"lemon's acidity helps break down food in the system and decreases hunger." says author of the diet, Theresa Cheung. According to studies, lemon juice helps in digestion and suppressing appetite, supported by a study in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition.
Also, according to FITDAY, lemon also contains pectin fiber which is the cause of hunger decreased.

Do business regularly
The more we do our businesses in the bathroom, the better it is for our body as more toxins are leaving our body.

How and When to consume lemon water?

Based on the book "The Fat-Fighter Diet" by Bruce Krahn, it is recommended to consume lemon water in the morning, or the moment you wake up, in an empty stomach. Drinking warm or slightly hot lemon water is an additional benefit for weight loss. Other than morning, lemon water can be consumed any time of the day. For instance, instead of drinking sweet drinks, drink lemon water. Or if you do not feel like drinking water because of the dull taste, add some lemon juice.

However, please do not starve yourself and drink lemon water only for weight loss purpose. Remember that eating smaller meals regularly helps in fat burn as our metabolism is running. Keep in mind that starving will slow your metabolic rate hence causes your body to store fats.

Do know that Lemon water/juice has the properties that helps with weight loss, however it is not the main cause of weight loss on its own. A proper and healthy way for weight loss is to eat healthily, accompanied by regular physical activities and enough sleep.

Lemon water has many advantages for health other than weight loss. Please visit think link to see more.

Egg Whites good for Skin

BURNS...

A young man sprinkling his lawn and bushes with pesticides wanted to check the contents of the barrel to see how much pesticide remained in it.
He raised the cover and lit his lighter; the vapors ignited and engulfed him. He jumped from his truck, screaming. His neighbour came out of her house with a dozen eggs and a bowl yelling:  "bring me some more eggs!" She broke them, separating the whites from the yolks. The neighbour woman helped her to apply the whites onto the young man's face.  When the ambulance arrived and the EMTs saw the young man, they asked who had done this. Everyone pointed to the lady in charge. They congratulated her and said: "You have saved his face." By the end of the summer, the young man brought the lady a bouquet of roses to thank her. His face was like a baby's skin.

A  Healing Miracle for Burns:
Keep in mind this treatment of burns is being included in teaching beginner fireman. First Aid consists of first spraying cold water on  the affected area until the heat is reduced which stops the  continued burning of all layers of the skin. Then, spread the egg whites onto the affected area.

One woman burned a large part of her hand with boiling water. In spite  of the pain, she ran cold faucet water on her hand, separated 2 egg  whites from the yolks, beat them slightly and dipped her hand in the  solution. The whites then dried and formed a protective layer.

She later learned that the egg white is a natural collagen and continued during at least one hour to apply layer upon layer of beaten egg white. By afternoon she no longer felt any pain and the next day  there was hardly a trace of the burn. 10 days later, no trace was  left at all and her skin had regained its normal color. The burned area was totally regenerated thanks to the collagen in the egg whites, a placenta full of vitamins.
Egg Whites... Who Knew?

Bigger eyes with Simple Make Up

It is unfortunate that most of us Asians have smaller eyes compared to Caucasians. But thankfully, something awesome has been invented by human beings that can help us make our eyes look bigger! And that is MAKE UP!!!

Now if you ask people, how to make your eyes look bigger, they will most probably tell you EYE LINER. However in my opinion, there is actually a certain way to draw the eye liner to make it look bigger. If you apply the eye liner the normal way, for my eyes at least, you will not see a difference!

(From your angle) My left eye has no make up at all except for some high light under the eye brow. Right eye, I applied my eye liner the normal way, on both upper and lower lids.
Does the right eye look bigger than the left? From what I see, NO.

There are actually specific ways to make up, to make your eyes look bigger. I will not be showing any tutorial here, but just to show you how amazing make up can be when it's properly done. If you wish for a tutorial, please do leave a comment down below. :)

This is the proper way to apply eye liner to make your eyes look bigger. If the way it's applied looks normal to you other than the "wing" at the side, you need to look properly.

With Mascara. Mascara helps a lot in making our eyes look bigger.

Other than Eye Liners and Mascara, you can too make your eyes look bigger with just Eye Shadow+Mascara.

Left side: 3 tones of Eye Shadows+Mascara.
Right side: Liquid Eye Liner+Mascara

Forgot how my natural eye looks like?

Boutique Vogue Spa.Nail.Lounge @DU

So last year my friend and I bought a voucher from Groupon for Manicure+Pedicure+Callus Removal for RM39.00. Last Friday, we made appointment and when we first got there, we didn't know it was a Boutique+Nail Spa, so when we saw a boutique, we continue walking upstairs until there was nowhere to go. Went back down and looked into the boutique, that's when I saw some nail art samples.

Their clothes are actually not bad in quality, and price is pretty average like any other boutiques. Some of the stuff are quite nice, might actually go back there to shop for dresses. :)

When we got there they were still doing the mani pedi for other customers, so while waiting we just looked at the clothes, and I took some pictures.

Their Current Promotion

Our Mani+Pedi Session

My Pedicure Designs

My Review
Okay, my friend and I thought that the choices for the nail art for our pedicure were kind of limited. I actually expected them to show us the types of nail arts through pictures and we choose from there. But we had to choose from this metal thing where the designs are engraved on it. For our big toes, we only can put one design. If you look at my toes, there are still so much space and I could have added more designs on it, but i'm not allowed to.

There were also limited staffs, only two of them handling this hence our 60 mins mani pedi became 1.5 to 2 hours. There is one Chinese lady, whom I assume is the person in charge, and another Malay lady. The Chinese lady was good, whereas the Malay lady seemed a little lack of experience? When she paste the nail art on my friend's toe, she couldn't do it properly saying that colour wouldn't come off the metal nail art, and had to remove the mistake with nail polish remover.

When she was painting my toes, the nail polish was kind of dry-ish thick, therefore the outcome wasn't as smooth. The Malay lady did not do anything about it until the person in charge told her it's too thick, need to add the nail polish remover to liquidize it.

Maybe I was misled by the Groupon Promotion, but in the Groupon page they showed really pretty nail arts, not like this at all. In fact they showed the nail arts like this ones.  Maybe Groupon  was not really informed about this too, knowing them such mistakes as these are something Groupon would want to prevent.

Overall my experience with Vogue Spa is pretty okay, but I'm not happy with the limited choices and for not knowing the basic knowledge for nail polish. Even I would've known if the nail polish is too thick or dried up a little, and do something about it.

Service: 2.5/5
Quality: 2/5
Revisit: Not for mani pedi

*My friend and I are actually glad that we did not pay full price for this.

Exercise techniques by Fay Hokulani

It is Health and Wellness week! This time I believe it's with Fay Hokulani She showed us some workout techniques with the exercise band
Fay said that this workout band follows her wherever she goes, and she explained her workout techniques as the trainers from Fitness First demonstrated. The first workout I forgot what it's called, but it requires you to go on your knees, hold the band like the picture, and bend backward-forward.

The next workout is a squat. Hold the band like the picture above, go into a squat position, then you stand up and extend one leg to the side like the picture below.
Next was the Biceps Curl. The band has three types: from easy to tougher ones. Once you're used to the easy band, you will need to get the medium band.

After the demo, Fay said: If you think this looks easy, I would like 2 volunteers to come up and try them. I quickly turned my back hoping they won't choose me and the next thing I know I felt hands on my arms... and I was like NONONONO, and pushed James to go instead.

Squats
Biceps curl
Lateral raise, you pull upwards side way till shoulder level.

And he is done. Fay said to him that he was really working out there, because he was really sweating.

When he came back down, I asked if it was tough. James said it's kinda challenging and pretty effective. We were told RM30+. but I want to go to the shop to double confirm because James said the person who told him seemed unsure. As far as I know, you can get the band from Fitness Concept.

Anyways, James is a personal trainer as well and according to him who works out and carries heavy weights and still say it's challenging; it could be really effective. If it's affordable, I'll definitely get it. After all it is cheaper than going to the gym especially if you don't need most of the equipments there, and  if you just want to just lose weight and tone.
